New Year's resolutions and commitment

Commitment goes hand in hand with cognitive dissonance to produce persuasion. Many social customs and rituals are designed to increase a person's sense of pyschological commitment to an idea, group, cause, or decision. This also explains why people announce their New Year's resolutions publicly. Doing so binds them all the more to their commitments.

Read the above paragraph while mugging. Alright. December is approaching. Maybe I should start planning the resolutions for the new year, instead of throwing in random thoughts on the 31st Dec. The list will continue.......
