As I stood and watched the performance, many thoughts ran through my head.
These performancers are the real hero of SMU. I look at myself and felt totally shameful. These are the people who rehearse throught the long nights. These are the people who worked so hard without any complaint, even though they may appear for only seconds on stage. What have I done through the years?
We called ourselves the student leaders. The ones who lead the clubs and societies, yet who are the ones who showcase SMU spirits and life? Definitely not me.
As the student leaders, we spent endless nights fighting among ourselves. We seems to be going round the circle, while those sportmen and musicians are reaching their goals. Do you see it? Pretty similar to a disfunctioning country. The fucking government can spent fucking years fighting each other's ego, yet it's the citizen inside which strive for survival. It's the citizen who really deserve the credits.
After serving as Presidents for E.y.E Club and Bondue, I think I am really craving for some time exclusively for myself. Yeah, just join a sport or any activity that I will be totally relaxed. Come this September, I will be handing over the office. Won't be taking up any more leadership roles. Just going to ease into the students population.
I am considering ballroom dancing. Anyone?
